When
the Diocese of Koforidua-Ho was created in 1981, the region had
little infrastructure. Much has been accomplished in the last 22
years, including:
-
Anglican Church Schools in the region now
include 58 kindergartens, 87 primary, and 55 junior secondary
schools.
-
A Secondary Technical School, established
in 1983, now has 150 enrolled students.
-
A Health Clinic has been established at
Kwahu-Apradan in the Eastern Region.
-
A 30 acre oil palm plantation of 1,800 plants
is expected to grow to 150 acres by the year 2005.
-
A small "Hospitality Services Spot"
in Koforidua serves the church, schools, and the general public.
-
A rice hulling Project and schools complex
has been completed in Kpando.
-
In Ayiesu, a "life-saving" Footbridge
and hand-dug well serve the local community.
-
An existing building is being renovated
as a Diocesan Enterprise Center that will contain a bookshop
and communications center, as well as sell general goods.
-
An 8.5 acre parcel of land has been purchased
for future development for educational purposes.
-
Newly built diocesan offices still lack
meeting facilities and a chapel.
- A 25 acre "Anglican Christian Village,"
anchored by the new Bishopslodge, is eventually hoped to house
a variety of projects, including: an ear, nose and throat clinic;
an HIV/AIDS pastoral care center; a model women's livestock
and poultry project; a retreat and conference center; a youth
vocational and recreational center; and a kerosene and petrol
filling station.
